Self-regulated Learning with Open and Distance Learning for Foundation of Applied Mathematics Course

چکیده

Foundation of Applied Mathematics is one the mathematics servicing courses for Diploma Science programme in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. This course was previously taught a physical classroom using direct confrontation. A few negative factors were found to contribute course’s failure rate: i) inadequate exercises, ii) poor study habit and iii) reluctance consult lecturer or opting with peers only. Due ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, students are forced do independent learning at home. Ascribable this issue, lecturers inspired investigate their students’ motivation participation course, which associate self-regulated (SRL). paper presents implementation open distance (ODL) teaching subject Mathematics. The ODL intended promote SRL student, thereby increasing activities. At present, no literature has been on current method, mainly course. Online questionnaires collected end March - July 2020 academic semester perceptions its effects Self-Regulated Learning Descriptive analysis used analyze data. findings indicated that level agreement positive contributions SRL.
